SCGI via HTTP Path with Basic Auth

I'm curious to find out if it would be possible to support basic auth destination paths?
An example of this is a server hosting the rTorrent scgi on http://servername/rpc
I know nTorrent supports this, but would certainly be less than ideal.
I'd write a patch myself, but I'm not quite familiar with Xcode to be helpful with this program. I can also arrange a test environment for whoever chooses to work on this for testing.
